Taylor Momsen is reportedly upset that Leighton Meester’s music has been played on their hit show Gossip Girl and that hers doesn’t. Taylor is the lead singer of The Pretty Reckless, a post-grunge band. Leighton, on the other hand, has recently launched a career as a pop singer, with catchy songs like “Somebody to Love” and “Good Girls Go Bad” with alternative rock band Cobra Starship.

Taylor has been playing music for longer than Leighton and yet her music has gotten no attention from the Gossip Girl producers. A rep for the hit CW show stated that Taylor’s music doesn’t fit the theme of the show like Leighton’s does and isn’t ready yet. From Celebrity Gossip:

“Taylor is not happy that Gossip Girl has been playing Leighton’s music on the show, and they have never asked to play any of her songs. It’s creating a lot of tension on set,” a source told Hollywood Life.

As for the reason for choosing Leighton over Taylor, the insider explains, “Leighton’s pop music fits the theme of Gossip Girl more than Taylor’s punk rock songs.”

Doing their best to calm the situation, a rep for the CW later stated, “The show will support Taylor and her music when the time is right, but her music is not ready yet.”
