Ashlee Simpson and Colin Egglesfield have been dropped from Melrose Place. Ashlee and Colin, who play Violet Foster and Augie Kirkpatrick, have been involved in a murder mystery plot on Melrose Place. Producers of Melrose Place have revealed that once the mystery’s solved, some adjustments will also be made to the cast of the show.

According to executive producer Todd Slavkin, the writers of the show had planned for both Violet and Augie to move  on after the murder mystery. Another executive producer of the show, Darren Swimmer, revealed that the tone of the show would also be going in a different direction. From PopEater:

We felt that once the murder mystery was resolved, the tone of the show was going to shift into a much more fun, romantic, sexy upbeat kind of show, and [her] character would move on.

It’s always interesting when shows makeover their casts, and usually a hit or miss. Do you think it’ll work for Melrose Place?
